One of the best things about living on the southeastern coast is that we don’t have to say goodbye to beautiful weather as soon as school starts again. I always tell my family and friends in New York that spring and fall here in the coastal Carolina region are just like northern summers (except we get more sunny days!)
During the summer months the island is filled to max capacity with sandy-toed, suntanned vacationers from all over the country. Although, the fight for a parking spot on a Saturday morning in Wrightsville Beach is often a ruthless one, and the wait for a table at your favorite restaurant endless, we all secretly love that hot hustle and bustle of the summer months.
But, as all the summer people pack up their beach bags, lock up their rental homes or check out of their hotel rooms, September temperatures still hover around 85 and the water temp around 80. As the sand settles from the departing bicycle-wearing-mini-vans and paddle-board-clad-SUV’s, a calm aura floats down and settles over the island and its inhabitants.
Fall in Wrightsville Beach brings milder temperatures, waters that hold onto the summer warmth and sunsets that light up the Intracoastal and the island with the softest coral glow. But most people don’t know that this is the best time of year to be at the beach!
It’s the perfect time for a relaxing weekend getaway! No more fighting for the perfect plot of sand on the beach. No more full hotels and hour long waits for tables. Plus, hotels in the area are offering some great discounted fall rates.
Check out The Surf Suites for discounted rates throughout the month of September, when you stay two or more nights. You won’t be disappointed in their all oceanfront rooms – each with its own balcony. Throughout September and October, stay for less than half what you would pay in the summer and enjoy the quiet relaxation of a Wrightsville Beach fall.
Also, check out Summer Sands. Conveniently situated between the Atlantic and Banks Channel, Summer Sands offers easy access to the beach or the harbor. Walk from your room to some of the best restaurants and shops in town. Book one of their pet friendly rooms and bring your pup along for the weekend! Summer Sands is the only hotel on the island that offers a chemical free, salt water pool. If you’re looking for expertly prepared local seafood, walk right next door to South Beach Grill and try the Grouper Linda or the Sweet Potato Flounder.
If you want a more private vacay, visit Bryant Real Estate, or Intracoastal Realty to help your find your perfect beach home. Whether you’re just here for the weekend — or you fell in love with the area and want to stay — they can assist you with all of your home finding needs.
Don’t let the milder temperatures fool you, the sun is still strong and hot. So, don’t forget to rent and relax with Cape Fear Beach .
Congratulations to co-owner of the company, Theo Robich, who’s getting married this weekend!
