Obviously, our favorite time of year is summer. When you live at the beach, that season is kind of hard to beat. But the holidays run a close second. With Thanksgiving right around the corner we are all looking forward to spending time with loved ones and stuffing our faces like true Americans.
Welcome in the holiday season seaside style at the 32nd Annual North Carolina Holiday Flotilla. There will be plenty of fun events for the whole family. Kicking off on Friday night, and continuing all day Saturday (November 27th and 28th).
If you’ve never been, now is the time to check it out. Voted one of the Top 20 Events by the Southeast Tourism Society, Flotilla is a holiday parade of boats all decked out in Christmas bling. Anyone can enter their boat to win one of the cash prizes ranging from $750 – $5,000. To register your boat, click here. Or just bundle up and come enjoy the show!
The weekend festivities kick off with the Atlantic Marine Launch Party at the Blockade Runner at 7 p.m. Dress to impress and enjoy delicious food, live music, a cash bar and a silent auction. The event is open to the public; buy your tickets here.
The fun continues Saturday with the Festival in the Park at the Wrightsville Beach Park on Bob Sawyer Drive. This is a great even for kids! There will be a play area with inflatable slides, bounces houses, a climbing wall, and a coloring contest. For the adults, there will be an antique car show, over 100 arts and crafts vendors, and, of course, festival food! The festival runs from 10 – 4.
The grand finale, the boat parade, will take place Saturday evening. The lighted boats will set sail at 6 p.m. Click here to see a map of the parade and instructions on parking and viewing locations. Stick around after the parade for some fantastic fireworks starting at 7:30.
