for many reasons, and one of them is that there is always cool stuff to do! It seems like every weekend there are festivals, concerts, sporting events, community races, fundraisers, and much more! Well, this weekend is no exception; there are a couple of really cool events coming up. Not to mention, the forecast for this weekend is incredible! So, get the family and friends out of the house and try out one of these fun events, or pack the kids in the car and just come on down to the beach for the day. Whatever you do, get outside and enjoy this crazy beautiful December weather while it lasts!
If you love to run (or you just want to work off some of those holiday treats) and support a great cause, check out William H. Craig 5k at Legion Stadium. The race will take place this Saturday, December 12 at 8:00 am. All proceeds from the run go to clubs for boys and girls in middle school. Theses programs encourage kids to be active and live a healthy lifestyle. The volunteer coaches teach the kids important lessons like:
- Setting and realizing goals
- Communication skills
- How to make a difference
- How to work as a team
- Good character development

Another fun and festive opportunity to burn some Christmas calories will also be held this Saturday at the Wrightsville Beach Museum at 9:00 am. The Jingle Bell 5k Run will take runners around the Wrightsville Beach Loop, with views of historic cottages and the beautiful winter salt marshes. Participants are encouraged to wear festive attire! All proceeds will benefit the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History.
If you want to find some unique handmade Christmas gifts, check out the Winter Craft Festival in Southport on East Bay Street. Shop over 50 vendors while enjoying a view of the beautiful Cape Fear River and listening to live music. The festival will be held this Saturday, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and admission is free!
If you missed out on the Holiday Flotilla in Wrightsville Beach this year, get out to Southport this Saturday to see their Christmas Flotilla. The decorated boats set sail at 7:00 pm, Saturday night, traveling from the Southport Marina to Kingsley Park. Admission is free!
